30 years of IPROCEL

Our history

IPROCEL has been a benchmark in the energy and industrial sector for more than 30 years, both nationally (Canary Islands and mainland Spain) and internationally. The company provides engineering, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance services for generation plants, substations, Oil & Gas facilities and industrial plants. It also offers integral solutions through the development of turnkey EPC projects for electrical substations and evacuation lines associated with generation plants.

IPROCEL is approved by some of the main national and international electricity companies, such as Red Eléctrica, Iberdrola, Endesa, Naturgy and Enel, which guarantees its technical solvency and operational capacity in demanding environments. The company has managed more than 50.000MW installed in generation, transmission and distribution projects in more than 40 countries in Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East. Its experience ranges from conventional installations to advanced renewable solutions, with more than 150 substations in operation and participation in strategic projects for the energy transition.

Since its beginnings, IPROCEL has been closely linked to conventional energy generation, participating in the commissioning of thermal and combined cycle power plants in the Canary Islands and on the Spanish mainland. Its first actions date back to the 1990s, with pioneering projects in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the start of its internationalisation with a diesel power plant in Jamaica. This evolution has led the company to position itself as a key player in the integration of clean technologies, expanding its activity in recent years towards renewable sources such as photovoltaic solar, onshore wind and, especially, offshore wind. In this emerging field, IPROCEL provides a high level of specialisation in testing and commissioning services, contributing to the development of critical offshore infrastructures for the future of the European energy system.

IPROCEL International

IPROCEL's growth since its foundation in 1993 has been closely linked to the evolution of the energy sector, starting with conventional generation projects - thermal power plants, diesel groups and combined cycles - and progressively extending its activity to isolated generation systems in island environments such as the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Mauritius, Bahamas or Jamaica.

Over time, the company has strengthened its commitment to the energy transition, participating in renewable generation projects: solar photovoltaic, onshore and offshore wind, biomass, solar thermal and storage. This evolution has been accompanied by a technical approach aimed at integrating customised and efficient solutions, aligned with the global objectives of decarbonisation and sustainability.

It specialises in commissioning and start-up in the offshore wind sector, with projects such as Saint-Brieuc (France), Baltic Eagle (Germany) and Vineyard Wind (USA).US), including both wind farms and associated electricity substations -onshore and offshore-.

IPROCEL currently has active subsidiaries in the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Chile, Morocco, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Israel and Romania, from where it operates closely and efficiently in strategic markets. In Mexico, it has more than a decade of experience participating in the commissioning of large combined cycle power plants. In Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, it has executed EPC projects for electrical substations, working directly with grid operators, consolidating its technical and regulatory knowledge in these countries. In the United States, it has maintained a continuous presence for more than ten years, with a clear vocation for long-term growth.

Despite having a permanent presence in ten countries, IPROCEL's international experience extends to more than forty countries on four continents, where it has participated in projects totalling more than 50,000 MW of installed power, covering all types of generation technologies and adapting to very diverse technical, regulatory and cultural environments.

IPROCEL with the future of the Canary Islands

IPROCEL is headquartered in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and has been a key player in the modernisation of the Canary Islands' energy system for more than three decades. Its participation in plants such as Jinámar, Barranco de Tirajana, Candelaria, Granadilla or Gorona del Viento, among others, consolidates it as a strategic partner of the system operator and the main utilities in the archipelago.

In recent years, it has strengthened its commitment to sustainability, participating in renewable energy, BESS storage and digitalisation projects, as well as in emblematic initiatives such as the development of floating offshore wind farms in collaboration with the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster. This positioning boosts the Canary Islands as a benchmark in blue economy and energy transition.

IPROCEL currently collaborates with public and private entities in key projects that favour decarbonisation, local employment and the sustainable development of the islands, reaffirming its commitment to the energy future of the archipelago.
